STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This Agreement aligns with the City Council’s strategic outcome of Connected and Engaged. The agreement supports efforts to bolster cybersecurity resilience, safeguard critical systems, and protect sensitive data from emerging threats.
REPORT:
The City of Yuma has the opportunity to partner with the Arizona Department of Homeland Security through the Statewide Cyber Readiness Program. This collaboration provides advanced cybersecurity tools, training, and resources to improve the City’s ability to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats.
Under this MOU, the City will receive access to:
1. Advanced Endpoint Protection (AEP) and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR): Tools leveraging AI and machine learning to detect and respond to malware and ransomware threats.
2. Anti-Phishing and Security Awareness Training: Programs to educate employees about recognizing and avoiding phishing attempts.
3. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Enhanced security measures requiring multiple verification methods for system access.
4. Converged Endpoint Management: Platforms for real-time asset visibility and scalable patch management.
5.Web Application Firewall (WAF): Protections against common web exploits targeting the City’s applications.
These measures will be provided at no cost to the City of Yuma, funded entirely by AZDOHS. This partnership will foster a safer cyber environment for City operations while aligning with federal and state cybersecurity mandates.
Approval of this MOU will allow the City IT Department to formally engage in this program and implement these advanced tools and strategies.
