Bid Award: La Quinta Retention Basin Upgrades
end
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Summary Recommendation
Authorize a construction services contract for La Quinta Retention Basin Upgrades project to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the amount of $406,615.00 to Accurate Excavation of Arizona LLC., Yuma, Arizona. (Engineering-RFB-26-340) (David Wostenberg/Robin R. Wilson)
end
STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This project algins with the City Council’s strategic outcome of Respected and Responsible by addressing ongoing standing water issues caused by high groundwater levels that prevent natural percolation.
REPORT:
The La Quinta Retention Basin has historically experienced standing water conditions due to a high-water table that limits infiltration. During rain events, Public Works staff must deploy multiple pumps over several days to remove water from the basin, creating an ongoing operational burden. Installation of a lift station with this project will provide a more efficient and reliable method for removing water, reducing staff time, and improving overall performance.
Bids were received from the following five general contractors:
Accurate Excavation of Arizona LLC $406,615.00
Doege Development LLC $888,839.30
Gutierrez Canales Engineering $1,097,749.97
Primary Construction, Inc. $899,297.21
Taylor Engineering $750,846.80
This project is anticipated to begin on December 2, 2026, and be completed by May 1, 2027.
