SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:

Summary Recommendation

Authorize the purchase of a 2027 Peterbilt Model 537 McNeilus 8-yard truck, utilizing the cooperative purchase agreement from Houston-Galveston Area Council, for an estimated expenditure of $250,338.08 to Rush Truck Centers of Yuma, Yuma, Arizona. STRATEGIC OUTCOME:

This purchase supports the City Council’s strategic outcome of Active and Appealing by enhancing the City’s ability to maintain clean, well-kept, and visually appealing public spaces throughout alleys, trails, and pathways.

 

REPORT:

The purchase of the 8-yard rear loader will add a new unit to the City’s equipment fleet, enhancing the ability to provide trash removal along roadsides, trails, and alleys. 

 

This will be the first 8-yard rear loader in the fleet, and the anticipated lead time for delivery of the unit is approximately 13 months.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT:

Sufficient budget capacity is provided in the FY 2027 City Council approved budget. Due to anticipated extended build time, funds will be encumbered and placed in the City’s investment pool to be carried forward each fiscal year until the unit is received.
