end
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Summary Recommendation
Authorize the purchase of a Ford ADA prisoner transport van from Quality Vans & Specialty Vehicles, Tempe, Arizona, through Maricopa County in the amount of $132,265.00. (Municipal Court-CPA-27-113) (Del Miller/Robin R. Wilson)
end
STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This purchase supports the City Council’s strategic outcomes of Safe and Prosperous and Respected and Responsible by providing Municipal Court Marshals with a reliable, ADA-accessible vehicle for the safe and secure transport of in-custody defendants. The replacement will improve safety, accessibility, and operational reliability using approved Municipal Court Improvement Funds.
REPORT:
Municipal Court Marshals transport in-custody defendants between the detention facility and Municipal Court daily. The existing transport van is aging and lacks ADA accessibility and current safety, climate-control, video-monitoring, and emergency-extraction features.
The proposed Ford transport van is specifically designed for prisoner transportation and includes separate transport compartments, dedicated climate control, video recording and monitoring, emergency-extraction capabilities, and ADA-accessible loading.
Delivery is anticipated within three to four months, and the vehicle will be placed into service upon receipt.
