Rental Contract: Solid Waste Truck Rental
end
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Summary Recommendation
Authorize the rental of an Automated Collection Side Loader Solid Waste Truck utilizing the cooperative purchase agreement originated by Sourcewell, at an estimated annual expenditure of $82,800.00 with an option to renew the rental for up to seven additional years to Haaker-Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona. (Public Works-CPA-26-175) (Joel Olea/Robin R. Wilson)
end
STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This agreement aligns with the City Council's strategic outcome of Respected and Responsible by allowing the Solid Waste Division to establish a rental agreement with the contracted service provider. Haaker-Arizona will handle all major equipment repairs and breakdowns. This arrangement aims to provide reliable service delivery, minimize operational disruptions, and support fiscal management by reducing unplanned maintenance costs for the City.
REPORT:
The City will utilize a cooperative agreement, initially for a one-year period, for the rental of a 2025 unit with the option to continue the rental for up to seven additional years. The rental will serve as a support measure for the City’s growing operations, bridging the gap between the purchase and delivery of trucks. This will allow the City access to an identical vehicle without a long-term commitment, which is beneficial while the City develops additional fleet.
Currently, the City has 14 solid waste side loaders. Three additional side loaders have been ordered and will be replaced this fiscal year through the Equipment Replacement Program.
Funds for this rental are included in the FY26 Rental of Equipment Replacement Fund (Non-ERP).
