Approve an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the Arizona Board of Regents, on behalf of Arizona State University’s Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety. (Police) (Thomas Garrity)

STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This intergovernmental agreement is in accordance with the City Council’s Connected and Engaged strategic outcome. The approved agreement will allow the City of Yuma to share data regarding violent deaths with the Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety.
REPORT:
Arizona State University’s Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety (CVPCS) analyzes data from violent and drug overdose deaths in Arizona, to develop strategies aimed at reducing violent crime.
This agreement allows the City of Yuma, through the Yuma Police Department, to share specified data relevant to violent deaths occurring in the City, with CVPCS free of charge.
By approving this resolution, the Mayor and Council authorize the City of Yuma to enter into an IGA with the Arizona Board of Regents, on behalf of Arizona State University’s Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety.
