Summary Recommendation
Authorize the purchase of a 10-yard dump truck utilizing a cooperative purchase agreement through Houston-Galveston Area Council, for an expenditure of $227,392.26 to Rush Truck Centers of Yuma, Yuma, Arizona. (Public Works-CPA-27-021) (Joel Olea/Robin R. Wilson)

STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This purchase supports the City Council’s strategic outcome of a Safe and Prosperous community by ensuring staff have dependable equipment to maintain essential infrastructure. The new dump truck will improve operational efficiency and support timely maintenance.
REPORT:
The existing 5-yard dump truck has exceeded its 15-year expected service life and will be replaced with a 2027 Peterbuilt Model 548 10-yard dump truck.
Once removed from active operation, the existing unit will be designated as a surplus asset and disposed of through either Public Surplus or the City Auction.
The estimated delivery timeframe for the new dump truck is approximately ten months. The 10-yard dump truck will be the first of its size added to the City’s fleet.
