STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This item supports the City Council’s strategic outcomes of Active and Appealing to provide premier services and amenities to the City’s golf courses, and Respected and Responsible as this project is part of a water conservation program.
REPORT:
The existing irrigation systems at both Desert Hills Golf Course and the Par 3 Golf Course have exceeded their expected lifespan. In response, the City secured a grant from the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) of Arizona as part of a water conservation initiative. This project aligns with the grant agreement and aims to enhance water efficiency and sustainability at the City’s two golfing facilities.
The project entails the installation of a new, fully functional irrigation system for both golf courses, which will include high-density polyethylene irrigation lines, valves and valve boxes, sprinklers, and an upgraded control system. Additionally, the project will convert certain turfgrass areas to desert landscaping and implement limited renovations to bunkers.
This upgrade will not only improve the irrigation efficiency but also contribute to the City’s ongoing efforts in water conservation.
One response was received and during the bid review process, it was determined that line items relating to the Par 3 pond removal and work associated with upgrading the fertigation system were not necessary. As a result, these line items were removed and the project scope was reduced accordingly.
Approving this motion authorizes the City Administrator to execute the described contract with Diamond Golf International. The project is expected to commence in March 2025 and be completed by October 2025.
