SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Summary Recommendation
Authorize the purchase of a 2026 Ford F-350 Battalion Chief command vehicle from Republic EVS of Huntington Beach, California, through the Houston-Galveston Area Council Cooperative Purchasing Agreement, in an amount of $237,585.05. (Fire-CPA-27-065) (John Louser/Robin R. Wilson)
end
STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This purchase supports the City Council’s Safe and Prosperous strategic outcome by providing the East Battalion with a command vehicle necessary to supervise emergency operations, improve response coordination, and strengthen command coverage in the City’s expanding eastern service area.
REPORT:
The proposed Battalion Chief vehicle will serve as a fully equipped mobile command unit with emergency communication and incident-management capabilities. It will support field supervision, operational coordination, and command decision-making during routine incidents and complex emergencies.
The vehicle complements the addition of East Battalion personnel by providing the Battalion Chief with the equipment and mobility necessary to direct emergency operations, coordinate responding resources, and support firefighter safety.
The estimated lead-time for this unit is approximately 150 days from the date the order is received.
