STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This item aligns with the City Council’s strategic outcomes of Safe and Prosperous and Respected and Responsible by providing design for expansion of the Agua Viva Water Treatment Plant.
REPORT:
The ongoing drought has resulted in increased concerns about future water security within the Colorado River system. The current facility operates with three filters and treats six million gallons per day (MGD); the City plans to expand this capacity to nine MGD. To support this growth, additional filtration, modified piping, and upgraded controls will be required. The design will be updated to include a new filter, enhanced input/output capacity, and revised logic for the improved control systems.
Design services are projected to start late spring or early summer 2026 and be completed by June of 2027.

Sufficient budget capacity is provided in the FY 2026 City Council approved budget to enter this contract. Appropriations are programed in the FY 2027 proposed budget to complete the multi-year contract, pending City Council adoption.
