SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Summary Recommendation
Authorize the sole source purchase and installation of a redundant uninterruptible power supply (UPS) at City Hall, including integration with existing electrical infrastructure, from Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $150,000.00, subject to confirmation of available project funding. (Facilities Management SS-27-164) (Justin Lewis/Robin R. Wilson)
end
STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This item supports the City Council’s Safe and Prosperous and Respected and Responsible strategic outcomes by addressing power reliability for critical City services and maintaining existing facility infrastructure.
REPORT:
This project for City Hall is for the installation of a redundant UPS and integration with existing electrical infrastructure to support redundant power distribution for critical systems.
A power surge in August 2023 damaged the existing UPS. Repairs and added surge protection followed, but outages continue to affect operations, particularly during peak storm events. City Hall supports critical Information Technology infrastructure across the City; separating redundant power supplies is intended to improve system resilience.
The proposed work involves installing a new UPS and integrating it with the existing electrical infrastructure without disrupting daily operations.
