STRATEGIC OUTCOME:
This project supports the City Council’s strategic outcome of Active and Appealing by upgrading court lighting at the Desert Sun Stadium Tennis and Pickleball Complex to high school competition standards which will enhance playing conditions, improve the quality of existing recreational facilities, and support recreational and competitive use.
Additionally, this project supports the City Council’s strategic outcome of Respected and Responsible by replacing aging lighting infrastructure with energy-efficient LED technology demonstrating responsible stewardship of City assets by reducing energy consumption, minimizing maintenance requirements, and extending the useful life of existing facilities.
REPORT:
The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting approval to proceed with the Tennis and Pickleball Court Relamping Project at the Desert Sun Stadium Tennis and Pickleball Complex. The project will replace existing court lighting with new, energy-efficient LED fixtures designed to provide illumination that meets high school competition standards.
The improvements will provide more uniform lighting across the playing surfaces, enhance visibility and player safety, and improve the overall playing experience. The upgraded lighting will also reduce energy consumption and long-term maintenance requirements while extending the useful life of the City's recreational infrastructure at this location.
This project represents the City's ongoing commitment to park revitalization, a key priority identified in the 2024 Parks, Arts, Recreation and Trails (PARC) Master Plan. By reinvesting in existing facilities, the City is preserving valuable recreational assets, improving the quality of its amenities, and ensuring these facilities continue to meet the needs of residents and visitors.
